Single Camp Days are available on Mon Jun 30th, Tue July 1st, and Wed July 2nd

  • What if my explorer is sick? Will I get a refund?
We require campers to be healthy in order to attend camp. If your child has a fever, has been throwing up, or has had persistent diarrhea, those symptoms will need to have stopped for 24 hours before they return. Refunds and make-up days are not available for days missed due to sickness.
  • What group will my explorer be in?
We do not have set classrooms for specific ages as we do not limit the amount of campers of specific age groups from registering beyond the age parameters of registering. Once registration is completed, we divide groups according to several factors such as age, developmental milestones, and personality to ensure they are placed in the group that is the best fit. The amount of registrations will determine the group size. Our classrooms' max capacity ranges from 8-12 preschoolers, and we follow DSS staff:child ratios.
  • What if my explorer has an allergy or another dietary restriction?
All food prepared/provided to the campers are nut free. We can also accommodate other restrictions, such as gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, etc.
  • How will I know how my explorer is doing while at camp?
We utilize a communication platform called Brightwheel. It is our primary means of communicating throughout the camp day with a messaging feature as well as a feed of your child's activities, such as meals/snacks, activities, potty tracking, etc.

  • How do camp teachers handle challenging behaviors?
Our teachers are trained to handle challenging behaviors with a gentle approach, focused on providing the child a curious, empathic response to their behaviors. We believe that challenging behaviors are attempts of children to communicate an unmet need, e.g. they are tired, overstimulated, hungry, unsure of their environment, etc. It is our goal to help children develop a greater sense of self-awareness, strengthen their ability to self-regulate, and cultivate their socials skills that allow for positive cooperation with their peers by utilizing non-punitive forms of discipline, such as consistently verbalized limits and expectations, natural and logical consequences, and providing safe environments for them to calm and process big emotions in a safe, healthy way.
  • How will I know how my preschooler is doing while at camp?
We utilize a communication platform called Brightwheel. It is our primary means of communicating throughout the camp day with a messaging feature as well as a feed of your child's activities, such as meals/snacks, activities, potty tracking, etc.
  • What if my preschooler doesn't nap?
Those who are enrolled in the Full-Day Camp sessions will have a 1-2 hour period of their day dedicated to quiet, calm resting. We do not force any children to sleep, but we do provide all preschool campers with a nap cot to rest on. All preschool campers should be sent with a nap mat (or blanket + pillow) to make their nap cot a comfy, cozy space. Those who don't want to try napping are provided with quiet busy bags and books while during the quiet time.

  • Does my preschooler have to be potty-trained to attend camp?
